- Donna M Mendes MD is a board-certified vascular surgeon, the first African American female boarded by the American Board of Surgery, and because of that, was inducted into the Library of Congress. Dr. Mendes is presently Vice Chair pf Education at Lenox Hill, and the self-imposed mandate she has developed is to work with residents so that they feel comfortable in both clinical and social environments as they prepare to be stunning and composed, excellent and exceptional vascular surgeons with skills that are exemplary. She advises that it is a long hard road, but the end result is one of distinction.
