- Donald A. Wiss, MD is the Emeritus Director of Orthopedic Trauma at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. His clinical and research focus was on the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of musculo-skeletal injuries and post-traumatic fracture reconstruction. Dr. Wiss earned his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic surgical residency at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Wiss was awarded the prestigious Girdlestone Scholarship in Orthopedic Surgery at Oxford University in England, and was an AO Trauma Fellow in Tubingen, Germany as well as a Trauma Fellow at Boston University. He spent nine years on the faculty of the University of Southern California and 17 years working at the Southern California Institute (SCOI) before joining the faculty at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Dr. Wiss is a founding member of the Orthopedic Trauma Society (OTA) and is a past President of the organization. He has published 67 peer-reviewed journal articles, co-authored 20 book chapters, and has given more then 650 presentations worldwide. Dr. Wiss has edited three Editions of the highly successful textbook Master Techniques in Orthopedics: Fractures. In addition he has published two autobiographical books, At All of Life's Intersections there are Choices and There is no Shortage of Time Only a Confusion of Priorities.
