Summary
- Dr. Donald Leichter diagnoses and manages heart disease in
patients from fetal life up to 21 years of age. His experiences, as a patient undergoing open heart surgery in 1958, and as a parent whose child underwent cardiac surgery, help him understand the fears and concerns of children and families. In practice in Summit since 1989, (and more recently Chester, NJ) he provides a variety of noninvasive testing. Affiliated with numerous area hospitals, Dr. Leichter is an associate clinical professor of pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at New York–Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. His undergraduate degree was obtained at Duke University. He graduated from Cornell University Medical College, did his pediatric internship and residencies at Children’s Hospital National Medical Center in Washington D.C., and his pediatric cardiology fellowship at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center (NYC).
