  • Dr. D. Ruby Sahoo received her medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, PA and completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network in Allentown, PA. Dr. Sahoo has helped develop and successfully sustain one of the largest academic programs within Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC. In addition, Dr. Sahoo notably was elected by the medical staff in 2018 as the first female Chief of Staff in the history of this institution.

    Dr. Sahoo served as Facility Medical Director of a large hospitalist program at Grand Strand Medical Center and in 2019 was promoted to Hospital Medicine Performance Director with TeamHealth, a role in which she helps Hospital Medicine programs nationally ensure the highest level of patient care, graduate medical education, and alignment with facility goals. She also functions as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Medical Education for Texas A & M School of Medicine, an Advisory Board Peer Reviewer for HCA Healthcare Journal of Medicine and is a member of the SHM Performance Measurements and Reporting Committee and Hospitalist Futures Advisory Group of SHM, where she works to create and revise legislative policies including MIPS-related content as it relates to hospital medicine. In 2019, Dr. Sahoo completed her Physician Executive MBA from the University of Tennessee and this past year, in 2021 she was named to the Board of Directors of Society of Hospital Medicine.
