I had a wonderful and rewarding 20 year pediatric practice here in town before the 'practice of medicine' changed and ruined the 'art of medicine' in my mind. I chose to retire and take care of my ailing parents and family in 2016. Thank goodness I was able to do this as the medical environment is very hard to navigate, especially for our elderly generations. I praise any of you who had to struggle through the COVID years as that was game changing in every sense of the word. Medicine is certainly different now than when I trained 30 years ago, but hopefully the new generations can keep it true to our Hippocratic Oath and provide compassionate care to their patients. Sometimes its good to dig out and reread the Personal Statement from our medical school admissions packets; don't loose that passion!
