Dr. Birnbaumer's has given over 2,000 lectures locally, nationally, internationally and virtually on topics ranging from general emergency medicine, burnout, and teaching skills for medical educators. She is Editor-in-Chief for the 8th Edition of Roberts and Hedges Clinical Procedures in Emergency Medicine and Acute Care.
Dr. Birnbaumer has received local and national awards as an educator, including the American College of Emergency Physicians Outstanding Speaker of the Year Award and the Outstanding Contribution to Education Award. She has been recognized as a Fellow by the American College of Emergency Physicians.
Dr. Birnbaumer also writes creatively. Her poems and essays appear in the Huffington Post Personal, Intima, and the Annals of Emergency Medicine and the Annals of Internal Medicine, as well as several anthologies.
