- Dr. Derrick Umansky is a board certified neurosurgeon with Southern Brain and Spine as well as adjunct assistant professor of neurosurgery (Tulane Medical School) who completed his training at Tulane University and Ochsner Clinic System. During his training, he completed an enfolded fellowship in complex and minimally invasive spinal surgery. Dr. Umansky has special expertise in robotic spinal surgery and specializes in the treatment of spinal disorders such as degeneration, disc herniation, scoliosis, spinal deformity, spinal tumors, infection, revision spinal surgery, etc. In addition, Dr. Umansky has interests in all areas of neurosurgery including treatments for seizure disorders, brain tumors, cerebrovascular disease, peripheral nerve disease, and trauma. His research interests are focused on helping improve outcome measures and delivery of efficient, patient-family centered care in the treatment of spinal disorders and other neurosurgical conditions.
