Summary
- Dr. Polzin was born in a small Wisconsin town and lived there until beginning his medical career as a wilderness EMT. He soon went on to become a physician and pursued diverse clinical experiences across the Pacific Northwest, the Southwest, and Alaska as part of his training.
His medical school journey was uniquely marked by living as a nomad, traveling and residing in a self-built camper van, which allowed him to immerse himself in various medical cultures and practices and explore a diverse range of ecosystems and outdoor activities.
Dr. Polzin specializes in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment. His practice is uniquely holistic, combining osteopathy, lifestyle medicine, dietary practices, herbalism, and Western medicine.
His integrative approach is designed to empower patients to harness their own innate healing abilities, fostering well-being and health reclamation through a balanced treatment model.
An advocate for inclusive care, Dr. Polzin has extensive experience with the LGBTQ+ community and employs trauma-informed practices. In addition to holistic primary care, he offers telemedicine services and personalized hands-on healing sessions, ensuring a comprehensive approach to healthcare.
Dr. Polzin treats using an educational model, teaching patients about the underlying mechanisms and root causes of health and illness, allowing them to make their own informed health decisions.
Dr. Polzin is the founder of Wild Bear Medicine (a clinic offering telemedicine and mental health counseling services) and Zen Companions (a service to help patients legitimize their emotional support animals). He's also the author of “The Healthy Nomad Handbook,” a guide to wellness for travelers, and “Breaking Through the Crowd: Conquering Crowd Anxiety.” His publications reflect his dedication to addressing both the physical and psychological aspects of health.
