Summary
- David L. Tran, M.D. (he/him/his) is a Family Medicine and Palliative Care physician. A UC Berkeley graduate, he attended medical school at UC Irvine before completing Family Medicine residency at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center in Southern California. In 2016, he was awarded the prestigious American Academy of Family Physicians Award for Excellence in Graduate Medical Education. He completed an additional fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Care with UC San Diego/Scripps Health.
After training, he served as the Department Chair of Palliative Care and Support Services at Palo Alto Medical Foundation, where he oversaw five clinics throughout the Bay Area to provide community-based palliative care services for patients and families coping with complex medical illness. He now resides in San Diego.
He continues to serve as a policy advocate at the intersection of diversity and structural racism within palliative care, health policy, and medical aid-in-dying.
