- Dr. Taormina completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital in Manhattan, NY (formerly "NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases") and supplemented his training by completing fellowship at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Hospital in the area of hand and reconstructive upper extremity surgery.
Dr. Taormina provides orthopedic treatment of the upper and lower extremity including conservative and surgical treatment options. His treatment strategies are tailored to the individual and their specific ailment, including the use of bracing, physical therapy, and injections when possible. If conservative options become ineffective, he may suggest surgical treatment alternatives. A few examples of his area of surgical expertise for the upper and lower extremity include the management of arthritis, treatment of nerve compression syndromes (carpal and cubital tunnel), the use of endoscopic and minimally invasive release techniques, tendon injuries, trigger fingers, as well as fracture care of the hand, wrist, elbow, hip, knee and ankle and joint replacement (arthroplasty) surgery for large and small joints.
