Summary

  • David E. Sternberg, MD, since 1990, is Director of Psychiatry Associates Chartered in Kansas City and Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Since 2006 he was also a Senior Psychiatrist at the Forensic Center of the Northwest Missouri Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center in St. Joseph, MO.

    After Directing the Alcoholism Rehabilitation Unit at Bethesda Naval Hospital, he did a fellowship in Psychopharmacology at the National Institute of Mental Health where he became Research Coordinator in the Section on Neuropsychopharmacology. He was then recruited back to Yale to become Chief of the Clinical Neuroscience Research Unit. From 1984 to 1998 he was Medical Director of hospitals in New York, Kansas, and Missouri. He has served on the Psychiatry faculties of Georgetown University, USUHS, the Washington School of Psychiatry, Yale University, the Menninger Institute, and the University of Kansas.

    Recognized in Who’s Who in America for the past twenty-three years, he is a reviewer for such journals as the American Journal of Psychiatry, Archives of General Psychiatry, Biological Psychiatry and others. He has given hundreds of presentations to professional audiences throughout the country and authored approximately 100 book chapters and articles in professional journals on topics related to biologic psychiatry, psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, dual diagnosis, post-traumatic stress disorder, and addictions.
