- Dr. David Kaufman is a leading Breast Cancer Surgeon in the New York area. He is a breast surgical oncologist with many years of experience in the field, not only as a successful surgeon but as a clinical leader and pioneer in the industry. He is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the Medical Society of the State of New York, and the Nassau County Medical Society. He is a member of the Society of Oncoplastic Surgery Board of Directors. He completed his surgical training at the New York Downtown Hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and St. Francis Hospital.
Dr. Kaufman has received many honors over the years. He is the first-ever recipient of the Physician of Distinction Award from the American Cancer Society. In addition, he has been honored as a “New York Top Doc” and is in the guide to America's Top Surgeons. Dr. Kaufman is an Assistant Professor, Department of Surgery at the NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine. He also holds a faculty position as an Assistant Professor, Department of Surgery at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra-Northwell. For 10 years, he served as Chair of Surgery at St. Joseph Hospital and for 12 years as the Chief of Breast Surgery, and the Director of the Breast Health Center and the Breast Cancer Program. Dr. Kaufman is a pioneer of hidden scar breast surgery, minimally invasive breast biopsy, minimally invasive breast lump excision, intra-operative ultrasound, wireless localization, genetic testing for breast cancer, and prevention and management of Lymphedema. He has performed hundreds of oncoplastic breast surgery reconstruction procedures and has been a dedicated Breast Surgical Oncologist for over 25 years.
