    Dr. Ghilarducci is very active as an EMS Medical Director for the past 14 years in Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito Counties. He served as the president for the Emergency Medical Directors Association of California. His notable EMS achievements include developing the first Stroke system in California, as well as a STEMI system in Santa Clara County. He maintained regulatory oversight for 3 trauma centers as required by the California Health and Safety Code. He oversaw the formal designation of Regional Medical Center as a new trauma center as well as ensuring ongoing quality processes at Valley Medical Center and Stanford University Hospital. He is currently engaged in a radical redesign of Emergency Medical Services in Santa Cruz County which will deemphasize traditional response time performance and emphasize system performance measures that achieve improved patient outcomes.
    His career as a physician and EMS Medical Director was preceded by 16 years of pre-hospital, disaster, and EMS experience in the fire service in Santa Clara County, attaining the rank of acting battalion chief. Dr. Ghilarducci continues his field service by volunteering for international disaster relief work in Haiti and is a Medical Team Manager for FEMA Urban Search and Rescue CATF 3.
