He completed his medical education at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, followed by an internship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. After internship he served in the US Navy for 21 years, first as Destroyer Squadron Nine medical officer, then graduated first in his class at the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute and served as a Flight Surgeon in Japan (Call Sign "Goldfinger"). He next completed a residency in ophthalmology at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego with board certification scores at the 93rd percentile and served as head of Ophthalmology at Naval Hospital Jacksonville. Dr. Davis has held various academic and clinical roles, mostly overseeing various trainees while at Naval Hospital Jacksonville. These included Clinical Preceptor for the University of Georgia, Clinical instructor for Illinois College of Optometry, Associate Director of Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Florida, and Clinical Instructor at USUHS PA school. He has been recognized as a Fellow by the Royal College of Medicine, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American College of Surgeons, among other honors.
