Summary

  • I am a board-certified Emergency Physician who has retired after 35 years of practice and retrained to provide psychological treatment for adults experiencing symptoms of PTSD and trauma-related symptoms.

I use a mindfulness-based approach that addresses the body sensations, images, thoughts, emotions and beliefs that form in the wake of a trauma and can lead to strong, sometimes unexpected reactions to triggering events in your current life.

My work combines the principles of INTERNAL FAMILY SYSTEMS, SOMATIC EXPERIENCEING, and SENSORI-MOTOR PSYCHOTHERAPY to provide a comprehensive approach to the effects of trauma on both mind and body. These methods effectively address single-event adult traumas as well as complex PTSD related to childhood trauma. I have found these approaches to be especially effective in persons that have not responded to more traditional forms of psychotherapy – such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), traditional EMDR and talk therapy. My approach is also relevant for Vets and First Responders who wish to be treated outside their usual referral paths.
