- Daniel K Pu, MD, is an interventional cardiologist trained in minimally invasive catheter-based procedures for the treatment of coronary heart disease and valvular heart disease. He graduated from Duke University with distinction and attended medical school at The Ohio State University. He completed his internal medicine training at NewYork-Presbyterian Weill Cornell, cardiology fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center, and interventional cardiology fellowship at Scripps in San Diego. He then stayed at Scripps as a structural heart fellow to receive additional specialized training in structural heart procedures. He has a special interest in percutaneous procedures for the treatment of coronary artery disease with a particular focus on complex cases and catheter-based valve replacement procedures.
Procedures Dr. Pu performs include transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), catheter-based mitral valve repair using MitraClip, Watchman left-atrial appendage device as a stroke prevention measure for patients with atrial fibrillation (AFib), and percutaneous closure of atrial septal defect (ASD), ventricular septal defect (VSD) and patent foramen ovale (PFO).
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Pu also performs clinical research on minimally invasive treatments for valvular heart disease.
Dr. Pu believes strongly in a patient centered and individualized approach to medical care. He understands that everyone is unique, and he strives to educate patients about their specific condition and focuses to develop individualized treatment plans with patients and their families. He also strives to bring new cutting edge therapies to better serve our community.
He lives in Charlotte with his wife and two children and enjoys family life and traveling in his free time.
