He completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine Mount Sinai Hospital, followed by a Sports Medicine and Shoulder fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Dr. Charen is a candidate member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America and New York State Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons, with his research on college athlete injuries appearing in numerous publications, presentations and media outlets.
