Summary
- I am a rheumatologist trained to see both pediatric and adult patients with rheumatic diseases. I treat patients with systemic lupus erythematosus, mixed connective tissue disease, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, seronegative arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, spondyloarthropathies, Sjogren's syndrome, sarcoidosis, vasculitis, dermatomyositis and other more rare conditions.
Due to my combined adult and pediatric training, I have a special interest in rheumatic diseases in children and ensuring their healthcare as they transition into adult life with a chronic disease and see these patients in my adult clinic at the University of Chicago. I am part of a national organization conducting research on health care transition.
There is great overlap in the care of rheumatic disease patients and many aspects of reproductive health and pregnancy. I have expertise in pre-conception counseling as well caring for pregnant patients who have a variety of rheumatic diseases or other autoimmune diseases like psoriasis, Crohn's disease, or ulcerative colitis who are on biologic medications. I am also am conducting research in this field of rheumatology to expand knowledge and access for both adult and pediatric patients and I am a member of the American College of Rheumatology Reproductive Health Initiative committee.
Aside from my clinical work and research, I am also the pediatric rheumatology fellowship director and involved in medical student and resident education.
