Summary
- Craig Redfern DO provides Osteopathic Manipulation for a number of conditions, including spine pain and headaches. He has practiced Osteopathic manipulation since 1983, having learned Counterstrain technique first in 1976, while in College, from his friend G. Dean Patterson DO. This lead him to Osteopathic Medical School. He began his training at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, but transferred to the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine for his sophomore year to follow his wife-to-be. He returned to his home-town of Portland where he completed his internship at Eastmoreland Hospital. He was drawn to Internal Medicine, and completed his residency at Oregon Health Sciences University. He has practiced Internal Medicine since 1987, first at the Model Cities Health Center in St. Paul Minnesota, satisfying the requirements of his National Health Services Scholarship to Osteopathic Medical School. He returned to Portland, for a Fellowship in General Internal Medicine, focussing on teaching and research. He taught Internal Medicine at the Providence Portland Internal Medicine Residency, for 6 years. He then cofounded Integral Health. He continued to practice both Internal Medicine/Primary Care and Osteopathic Manipulation. He has been committed to the Physician-Patient relationship. He tried to practice in a fashion which is increasingly difficult to do. He felt that good care included allowing patients to have an adequate time in an office visit to express their needs, to evaluate, discuss and plan their care. He maintained 30 and 60 minute office visits, in an era where there are increasing pressures to make office visits shorter and shorter. This has become increasingly difficult to maintain, and in 2015 he made the difficult decision to limit his practice to Osteopathic Manipulation. He has found that he has much to offer to patients utilizing a gentle, segmental myofascial release technique, and Cranial Osteopathy.
