Summary
- Dr. Carter began her academic career at Yale University, where she earned her undergraduate degree in 1998, graduating magna cum laude. Dr. Carter returned to Yale University to pursue her medical training, earning her medical degree from the Yale School of Medicine in 2004. She then completed her orthopaedic surgery residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital (Columbia University) followed by fellowships in pediatric orthopaedics at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (USC) and pediatric sports medicine at Children’s Hospital Boston (Harvard University).
Dr. Carter’s interest in pediatric sports medicine has been life-long. In addition to her own participation in athletics – as a student at Yale she was named to the All-Ivy, Academic All-Ivy and Academic All-American Field Hockey teams – she has coached swimming, track and field, lacrosse and field hockey teams at a wide range of scholastic levels. Her academic and research interests have also focused on pediatric sports medicine, and she has recently been named to the Board of Directors of the Pediatric Research in Sports Medicine (PRISM) society.
Dr. Carter currently treats children, adolescents, and young adults with musculoskeletal problems, with a special emphasis on sports-related injuries including: ACL tears, discoid meniscus and other meniscal injuries, as well as acute and overuse injuries of the shoulder, hip, knee, ankle and elbow.
