Summary
- As a neuro-ophthalmologist, I often help bridge the gap between ophthalmology, focused on disease of the eye, and neurology, focused on disease of the nervous system, since both of these systems are vital to normal vision. Evaluating patients in neuro-ophthalmology clinic often requires reviewing the records of other providers, a thorough eye and neurologic exam, and at times additional comprehensive testing. As part of my deep commitment to patients, I spend ample time during our clinic visits seeking to determine what is causing their visual disturbance before transitioning to what treatments may be available. Communication amongst all providers and the patient is paramount in excellent medical care. In concert with the philosophies of the University of Minnesota, I am a strong advocate of advancements in medicine through research and education of younger physicians and students, allowing us to provide the highest level of care to our patients now and in the future.
