Summary
- I am a triple boarded physician currently working as a neuroanesthesiologist and neurointensivist. I am committed to providing high quality care to patients and an excellent education to those in training. In 2023 I graduated from Loyola Chicago School of Law with a JD. My intent is to transition to patient safety and risk management work. I am particularly interested in holistic approaches to disclosure of errors and preventative harm reduction. I passed the NC bar in 2023 and the NJ bar in 2024.
While at UPMC, I was the Division Chief for Neuroanesthesia and Co Director of the Neurointensive Care Unit. I created a just compensation plan for the neuroanesthesiologists and led the group through a major leadership transition. In addition, I participated in the Anesthesia Patient Safety committee and helped develop protocols for the ICU.
During my time in leadership at Duke, I focused on quality pathways, harm reduction and early mobility. I taught fellows, residents, advanced practitioners and medical students on a variety of topics. In August of 2022 I transitioned to the Duke University Hospital Medical Director for Regulatory Readiness and reported directly to the CMO for projects of special interest. I worked extensively on restraint reduction including education and policy while on multiple hospital level committees. I also served as the program director for the Neuroanesthesia Fellowship.
My most recent publications include topics such as ethical care of patients, violence in the healthcare workplace and family centered palliative care. As of 2023, I am on several national committees for patient safety and ethics.
