- Dr. Claude Wasterlain is a Distinguished Professor of Neurology Emeritus at UCLA and a Clinical Professor of Neurology at Yale School of Medicine. He received his medical degree in 1961 from Universite de L'Etat a Liege's Faculty of Medicine, followed by an internship at Middlesex Hospital and Neurology residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital (Cornell Campus). His professional expertise comprises the basic and clinical science of epilepsy, acute seizures and status epilepticus. Dr. Wasterlain has over 600 publications including 8 books, 225 peer-reviewed articles and 66 book chapters addressing many aspects of epilepsy and its basic science. Over his distinguished career, he has received several awards including the American Epilepsy Society-Milken Family Foundation Award for Basic Research in Epilepsy, the International League Against Epilepsy's Ambassador for Epilepsy Award, the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society's Pierre Gloor Award and the WCBR's Pioneer in Neuroscience Award. as well as the Golden Hammer teaching award from UCLA and was listed as "Super Doctor" for over 20 years.
