- Chris Karp, M.D. is the Director of Global Health Discovery & Translational Sciences at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, a team whose mission is to catalyze innovation for the discovery and translation of transformative solutions to global health and development inequity.
Prior to the foundation, he was on the faculty of the departments of Medicine and Molecular Microbiology & Immunology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and founded the division of Molecular Immunology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Research Foundation, where he was Esiason/Bell Professor of Pediatrics. His academic scientific career focused on defining the mechanisms underlying the regulation and dysregulation of inflammatory responses in infectious, allergic, and genetic diseases, with a focus on diseases of children.
