Summary
- I am an Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery in the Department of Surgery, Division of Neurosurgery, at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. My research focuses on electrophysiology and the mechanisms of deep brain and vagal nerve stimulation. I have a broad background in neuroscience with specific training in neuro-imaging, electrophysiology, and clinical trials. I am also the PI on a multi-center epidemiological study of motor vehicle trauma. I have been a principal member of two neurosurgery labs during their initial funding (PIs: Nitin Tandon and Albert Fenoy) and have helped establish human electrophysiology trials involving deep brain stimulation (DBS) for both. I have also participated in technology transfer throughout my training and hold multiple patents on image processing and neurosurgical planning. In support of one project, I was a Co-I and lead engineer on a successful NIH STTR application (NINDS R41 NS115253). At UConn Health, I have established high-volume DBS and VNS programs with ongoing research components.
