He graduated with a B.S. in Molecular Biology from the University of Texas at Austin, followed by medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and General Surgery Residency at the Greenville Hospital System - University of South Carolina School of Medicine. As a staff General Surgeon in the United States Navy, he spent time in Okinawa, Japan, Bremerton, Washington and Afghanistan. Since leaving the military, he now works at Austin Regional Clinic in both North and South Austin, Texas.
