Summary
- Christine Jacobs, M.D., F.A.A.F.P., is Dean and Vice President for Medical Affairs at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, following the interim role which she assumed in February 2021. She had served as Chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine since 2017.
Dr. Jacobs graduated from Vanderbilt University Medical Center and completed family medicine residency at Brown University. After practicing family medicine in a rural Federally Qualified Health Center, and 19 years in academic family medicine in Chicago, she joined Saint Louis University in 2008. In 2011 she created the Saint Louis University Family Medicine Residency in St. Louis to train physicians to care for underserved patients and communities. The residency has become nationally known for its Longitudinal Underserved Community Curriculum, and in 2017 received the Focus St. Louis Award for Improving Racial Equality and Social Justice.
Dr. Jacobs’ commitment to underserved communities began in medical school when she set up rural health clinics in Appalachia and worked in a clinic in Senegal. Her commitment to health equity, her passion for medical education, and her dedication to the rigor of scientific inquiry motivate her work at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
