Summary
- I am a staff physician in the pulmonary diseases and critical care department at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. I currently serve as the deputy medical director of the adult ICU and the deputy department head of pulmonary medicine. I hold an assistant professorship of medicine with the Uniformed Services University. I am the primary investigator in a study of swimming induced pulmonary edema and we are currently moving into phase 2 of this study which will include point-of-care diagnostics. The eventual goal is to develop rapid diagnosis aids to determine evidence of and severity of swimming induced pulmonary edema. I am an active educator in Fundamentals of Critical Care and Advanced Trauma Life Support. My other interests include non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis, the use of electronic cigarettes in conventional smoking cessation, and multiple cystic lung disease.
