Summary

  • Dr. Charles Daly is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hand, shoulder, and elbow surgery. He has a special interest in arthritis, fractures, nerve injury, tendon injury, joint replacement, and arthroscopy (“scope”) of the wrist, shoulder, and elbow. His clinical interests include pathologies ranging from the fingertip to the shoulder, with special interest in innovative techniques in Dupuytren’s contracture, microsurgery, complex trauma and nerve reconstruction, and minimally invasive carpal tunnel release.
He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Emory University and went on to subspecialize in hand, shoulder, and elbow surgery at The Curtis National Hand Center in Baltimore, MD. Following his training, Dr. Daly was an Assistant Professor at Emory University in Atlanta, GA where he established the Upper Extremity Fellowship Program as well as served as Chair of the Musculoskeletal Quality Committee. He has contributed more than 100 research publications, book chapters, and presentations in the field of hand, shoulder, and elbow surgery. He has a special interest in quality improvement in the clinical as well as research realms. Along with excellence in teaching and clinical care he hopes to foster growth of this field within orthopaedics locally as well as nationally and internationally.
After many great years in Atlanta, he was lucky enough to return home to Charleston, with his wife Kelsey and twin daughters Alice and Charlotte to work closely with his ambiguously named but unrelated partner, Dr. Dane Daley, as well as serve as Medical Director of Musculoskeletal Quality here at MUSC.
He has a special clinical interest in arthritis, fractures, nerve injury, tendon injury, arthroplasty, and arthroscopy of the wrist, shoulder, and elbow. His clinical interests include pathologies ranging from the fingertip to the shoulder, with special interest in Dupuytren’s contracture, microsurgery, complex trauma and nerve reconstruction, and tendon transfers.
