Summary
- Dr. Metzger is a graduate of Penn State University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology, the study of human movement. His passion for the musculoskeletal system and biomechanics led him initially to pursue a doctoral degree in chiropractic medicine where he developed a passion for spine care. He then went on to receive his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Metzger completed his residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation (physiatry) at Temple University Hospital where he served as chief resident, followed by additional fellowship training in pain medicine at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
Dr. Metzger takes a holistic patient-centered approach to his care with a focus on palliating pain and restoring function. His goal is to use his knowledge and interventional skill set to give his patients their best shot at returning to a normal functional life, using all of the multi-modal disciplines, medications, modern technologies, and state of the art procedures available. He strives to encourage his patients to take an active role in their healthcare for ultimate long-term success and improved quality of life.
