Her academic career was initiated at MD Anderson Cancer Center (2002-2019) where she held the Sophie Caroline Steves Distinguished Professorship Endowment for Cancer Research. She then transitioned to Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center for additional leadership roles including the creation of the Young Adult Cancers Program. She currently holds the David H. Johnson Endowed Chair in Surgical and Medical Oncology. In 2023, she received the Vanderbilt Biomedical Science Impact Award, 2023. Dr. Eng has a robust publication record, with work appearing in leading journals such as Lancet, JCO, and Nature Communications. She has received numerous honors and awards, including a fellow from Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine in 2022 and recognition from the White House Cancer Moonshot Colorectal Cancer Panel (2023) as well as the Congressional Briefing “Addressing Representation in Clinical Trials: Diversity Inclusion
and Access” on behalf of the Alliance of Cancer Care Equity [ACCE: American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), National Minority Quality Forum (NMQF), and the National Comprehensive Care Network (NCCN)] in 2024.
