Dr. Carlos Alfonso is an interventional cardiologist in Miami, FL working at Baptist Health - Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute where he was named the medical director of the Chronic total occlusion and complex PCI program since April 2025.
He received his medical degree from University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and was on faculty for 15 years specializing in interventional and structural cardiology, and achieving title of professor of clinical medicine. He served as the Cardiology fellowship program director for 10 years, and as the Medical Director of the complex PCI and CTO program at the University of Miami UHealth Towers.
He has experience in CHIP percutaneous coronary intervention and complex coronary disease including CTO and high-risk interventions with mechanical circulatory support and shock. He also performs structural and valvular heart interventions including transcatheter aortic replacement (TAVR), percutaneous mitral valve therapies (TEER).
