Summary
- Dr. Brian Vernon joined the Abrazo Spine Institute with over 10 years’ experience providing surgical excellence in degenerative spinal conditions, spine trauma, metastatic spinal lesions, motion preservation surgery (i.e. cervical and lumbar disc replacement), and minimally invasive spine surgery. He is trained to use some of the latest advancements in spinal surgery including robotic and navigation techniques. As the field of spinal surgery evolves and advances, he seek out and review educational opportunities daily. Dr. Vernon’s clinical interests are in motion preservation surgery, cervical and lumbar disc replacement. The ideal patient is one who has tried and failed multiple non-operative treatments, is motivated to improve and return to normal activities.
Dr. Vernon approaches each patient as an individual, recognizing that each person, his or her circumstances, and their spine is unique. A treatment plan is formulated based on these factors. He presents multiple surgical and non-surgical approaches, recognizing that there are benefits and risks to each option. His goal is for every patient to develop trust in him as a surgeon and educator, and be comfortable with their own level of understanding of their condition and options.
Dr. Vernon has worked hard to build a reputation of being a conservative surgeon, one who has good bedside manner, pays attention to details, and executes surgery safely by being meticulous and technically proficient in the operating room. For patients, this translates into good outcomes, including alleviation of pain and return to improved functioning. Overall, it makes him proud when patients are happy with their treatment.
