Summary
- After 30+ years of USAF service, I retired as of 1 AUGUST 2014. Hence, I now apply my wide and varied skills and experience in the civilian sector. And by "wide and varied" I mean to include providing leadership and supervision in all aspects of Aerospace Medicine (including aeromedical policy, doctrine, practices, procedures, prev med, applied epidemiology, etc); Human Factors (in particular Human Performance Enhancement, aircraft mishap/accident investigation, even some Human Systems Integration), USAF Human-related RD&A, Medical planning for contingencies both home and abroad; medical aspects of WMD/CBRN consequence management and planning; Medical Force Protection policies, doctrine, practices, procedures; Education and Training (including developing and presenting specific classroom lecture material, management of and curriculum development for entire training programs/courses) to include international students from countries in almost every inhabited continent in the world; even telemedicine in both US as well as more remote/austere settings. I have developed, supervised, and directed a wide variety of programs in all of the above at both the operational as well as "corporate" (ie Major Command Surgeons office) levels. My USAF career has been anything but "ordinary", resulting in a unique collection of varied skills and abilities. I have an insatiable curiosity (which the USAF has graciously indulged for the past 30 years) that still produces a relentless pursuit of knowledge, a commitment to lead from the front that delights in the success of those around me, and a work ethic that would make a Puritan weep with envy. All in all, it's been interesting so far, characterized mostly by serendipity, and no indication that it's anywhere near finished yet.
