- Dr. Brian J. Christensen joined the Louisiana State University Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery faculty in July, 2019 as a full-time Assistant Professor. Dr. Christensen began his education at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2009. He then attended the University of Washington School of Dentistry, where he earned his DDS in 2013. Following dental school, Dr. Christensen moved to New Orleans to continue his training at Louisiana State University Health Science Center. At LSU, he earned his MD in 2016 and completed a General Surgery Internship. He then completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at LSU with extensive training in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including orthognathic surgery, facial cosmetic surgery, temporomandibular joint surgery, sleep apnea surgery, craniomaxillofacial trauma and reconstruction and dental implant surgery. Dr. Christensen is the author of numerous peer-reviewed scientific articles, has received several grants for research funding and has presented on multiple topics at national meetings. He is the recipient of several research awards from the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Christensen is also a peer reviewer for the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Christensen will continue the tradition of clinical excellence, scientific innovation and educational dedication that has kept the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at LSUHSC New Orleans as the premier center for its specialty.
