Summary
- Dr. Brian D. Berman is a board-certified neurologist with fellowship training in movement disorders at the National Institutes of Health under the tutelage of Dr. Mark Hallett. He joined the faculty in the Department of Neurology at VCU after 10 years on faculty at the University of Colorado Denver. He sees a variety of movement disorders patients and perform botulinum toxin injections for dystonia, spasticity, and other neurological conditions at VCU Health. He will also be chief of the Movement Disorders Division in the VCU Department of Neurology and Director of the VCU Health Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Center. Dr. Berman’s research pursuits include using advanced imaging techniques to study the pathophysiology of Parkinson’s disease and dystonia, as well as investigating the effects of non-invasive neurostimulation techniques on brain function and symptoms in these disorders. His most recent research pursuits include investigating disruptions to deep sleep in Parkinson’s disease and whether these disruptions lead to accelerated cognitive decline and neurodegeneration.
