  • Breanne McCarthy, MD, is a current Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellow based in Philadelphia, PA, with subspecialty interest in pulmonary vascular disease. She completed her medical education at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2020, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania during which she also completed the Medical Education and Leadership Track. She chose to continue her training at Penn in the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowship. She is currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania. Her research work focuses on pulmonary arterial hypertension, with a specific interest in investigating heterogeneity in pulmonary hypertension to better characterize disease and predict disease trajectory, enhance clinical risk stratification, identify clinical profiles predictive of response to specific therapies (so-called “personalized medicine”), improve clinical trial design, and guide the identification of novel therapeutic targets.
