- I am a clinical cardiologist with a background in clinical trials, operations, education, and leadership.
Clinical trials. As a cardiology fellow, I received clinical trials experience and training in the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI) studying under Drs. Christopher O’Connor and Robert Califf. This experience allowed me to take the lead in protocol design and project oversight for number of multicenter, randomized, controlled trials including the SPICE trial-a trial of candesartan, an angiotensin receptor antagonist, in ACE inhibitor intolerant patients with heart failure; the RAPID trail, the first controlled trial of ultrafiltration therapy in patients with acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF); and the CARRESS-HF trial, a trial comparing ultrafiltration to medical therapy in patients with ADHF and cardiorenal syndrome performed by the NHLBI Heart Failure Clinical Trials Network.
