She received her MD from Rush University-Chicago in 1998, and residency training in family medicine at Columbia Univ Medical Center. She also received a BA in Neuroscience/BBB (UPenn'87), MA in Pharmacology/ Neuroscience (Columbia'89), MPH (Harvard '93), and a mid-career PhD in Pharmacology/Ayurveda (Banaras Hindu University'18). She also has certifications and formal trainings in nutrition, yoga, homeopathy, herbal medicine, and ancient medical systems.
As a 2018-2023 Fulbright Specialist in Global Public Health, Bhaswati specializes in Integrative Medicine and travels frequently for projects related to ancient Indian chemistry and pharmaceutics, and Ayurveda. She has spoken at numerous forums of scientific repute on Practice-Based Evidence and the urgent need to approach medical care with current and elegant science that demonstrates biochemical and biophysical bases of non-conventional medicines. She is also a Consultant for the WHO Global Traditional Medicines Center.
