- Dr. Hogans is an Associate Professor of Neurology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and serves as the Associate Director for Education at the VA Maryland Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center. A Baltimore native educated in mathematics at Johns Hopkins and biomathematics at the University of California at Los Angeles, Hogans graduated with an MD/PhD (Physiology) from the University of Maryland receiving the Howard Hughes Predoctoral Fellowship, Alpha Phi Alpha membership and the Arthur C. Schwartz award. Hogans has published two major textbooks on pain: "Pain Care Essentials" OUP (2022) and "Pain Medicine at a Glance (2023). She has over 60 PubMed indexed publications and over 3000 citations in Scopus. Hogans provides clinical service to Veterans in Baltimore and teaches and researches neurology, pain, aging and older adults, data science, interprofessional education, and narrative medicine.
