Summary

  • Dr. Benjamin Geddes is a board certified orthopedic spine surgeon in Chattanooga, TN. He specializes in spine surgery and is in a private orthopedic group, Center for Sports Medicine and Orthopedics (CSMO). He received an undergraduate degree in Honors Mechanical Engineering at the Ohio State University. He then received his medical degree from Emory University. After graduating he completed an Orthopedic Surgery residency at Yale University. Finally, he spent a year doing a Fellowship at the Leatherman spine institute where he further refined his skills in complex spinal surgery under the instruction of both orthopedic and neurological surgeons. He treats both adults and children from the skull to the pelvis. He practices comprehensive spine surgery from small minimally invasive procedures to large deformity reconstructions and tumors. He has a special interest in motion preservation when appropriate, especially in the cervical spine with disc replacements. He operates at both Memorial Hospital and Parkridge Hospital in Chattanooga. He also operates at the CSMO ambulatory surgery center, as more and more spinal procedures can be done outpatient. Dr. Geddes believes in conservative care first and reserves surgery as a last resort. He is blessed to be in a group with fantastic physical therapists, mid level providers, and non-operative interventional spine doctors. A team approach is critical when treating spine patients.
