- Dr.Barry Stanley Stein is a medical doctor and researcher who has worked in various fields of medicine throughout his career. He was born in the United States and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Southern California. He then pursued a Ph.D. in Experimental Pathology at the same institution, completing his doctoral thesis as a visiting graduate student at The Salk Institute in San Diego. Dr. Stein then earned a Pharm.D. in Clinical Pharmacy from the University of California, San Francisco, and an M.D. from The George Washington University School of Medicine. He went on to complete postdoctoral research fellowships at Stanford University School of Medicine, where he focused on receptor biology and the immunopathogenesis of AIDS and HIV infection. Dr. Stein is board-certified in Anatomic Pathology and Psychiatry and Neurology, having passed the maintenance of certification (MOC) examination for Psychiatry in 2011 and renewed his certification in 2022 by passing the 30 Article Assessment option. Throughout his career, Dr. Stein has held a number of research appointments, including as a Research Associate and Senior Research Associate in the Department of Pathology at Stanford University School of Medicine. He has also held positions as a physician specialist in psychiatry at the Center for Special Problems and as a senior physician specialist in psychiatry at the San Francisco Department of Public Health. Presently he is practicing at Savant Care Mental Health Center.
