Summary

  • I am a Board Certified senior Hematopathologist and director of Hematopathology Service at UAB Health System and Hematology/Bone marrow laboratories, and responsible for overall QA/QC of the above laboratories. I have diagnostic expertise in Flow cytometry, lymphoma, leukemia, myelodysplastic/ myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN/MDS), plasma cell neoplasms/myeloma, and additionally in Surgical Pathology / lung malignancies. My research interests are in bone marrow topography, tissue microarrays (TMA), immuno-architecture in the bone marrow and lymph nodes, automated needle biopsy techniques, mouse models of leukemia, (FLIT3-ITD), IRESSA trial in Non-small cell lung carcinomas and CD30 expression in hematopoietic cells. Other areas of my interest are in digital imaging, image analysis, deep macro-image stacking, web-technology, and quantification of bone marrow hemophagocytosis in macrophage activation syndrome (MAS). I have collaborated extensively with UAB (O’Neal) Comprehensive Cancer Center Investigators and other outside Institutions on the above research areas resulting in several peer-reviewed publications. As an educator, I developed Hematopathology teaching guidelines and curriculum for UAB Hematopathology fellowships and collaborated with other national experts in publishing training guidelines for Hematopathology programs.
