- Dr. Ayesha Abdeen specializes in Hip and Knee Replacement Surgery and is the interim Chief of the Division of Joint Replacement Surgery Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC). She is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery. Dr. Abdeen is also the Director of Quality Assurance for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at BIDMC where she is dedicated to patient safety and the continual monitoring of surgical outcomes. In this role, she implements methodologies to optimize the quality of care delivered to her own patients and in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery as a whole. Additionally, Dr. Abdeen is an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School where she instructs residents and medical students on the clinical practice of orthopaedic surgery.

Her current research investigates alternate modalities for the reduction or post-surgical pain such as regional anesthesia and techniques in complementary medicine. She serves on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Arthroplasty.
