Summary

  • Aruna Tummala, MD, is a board-certified adult and geriatric psychiatrist who practices part time at her Private Practice clinic, 'Trinergy Center For Integrative Psychiatry', in New Berlin, WI and full-time at Rogers Memorial Hospital. Dr. Tummala has authored and presented on the topic of mental illness to academic audiences both in the United States and abroad. Prior to joining Rogers, Dr. Tummala was a resident psychiatrist for the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals, and then a Fellow in Geriatric Psychiatry for the same organization. She is a 2003 graduate of the Deemed University, National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, Bangalore, India. She was recognized for excellence and was the recipient of three awards during her internship at the Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences in Bellary, India.

Following her psychiatric residency and geriatric fellowship at Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee; Dr Tummala became interested in Integrative medicine and psychiatry. This was mainly inspired by her recognition that modern psychiatry has very little to offer millions of people struggling with mental illness. Since 2013, Dr Tummala has received a Diploma from Academy of Integrative Health & Medicine (aihm.org), has pursued training in Ayurveda (the oldest medical system of the world, originating from India) and is currently pursuing certification in Functional Medicine through the Institute for Functional Medicine (functionalmedicine.org). All this additional training has broadened Dr Tummala's scope of intervention for her patients and is benefiting them greatly.

Integrative Psychiatry attempts to find the root cause of a problem. Dr Tummala uses a wide arsenal of intervention - diet, lifestyle modification, genomics instructed nutritional supplements, psychotherapy, ayurvedic herbs and therapies, along with judicious use of psychiatric medicines. This holistic approach is ideal for the complexity of the human condition.
