Research History

  • Department Chief and Principal InvestigatorDept.Respiratory and Mucosal Immunity. Studies optimizing vaccine antigens for producing protective immunity against high hazard pathogens our department discovered mucosal/peripheral crossregulation CR. Specific adjuvants abrogate CR & give complete immunity regardless of local or aerosol exposure.1983 - 1995
  • Collaborating InvestigatorWith Drs. John C. Cebra & Don Rubin I found a method to enhance ant-viral mucosal immunity with a lipoidal amine adjuvant (which formed liposomes when added to FDA-approved soybean lipid emulsion [Intralipid]). The research also discovered the viral protein responsible for tropism of the test virus1980 - 1983
  • Principal InvestigatorCellular Phenomena in Lymphatic Tissues During Immune Responses: The research identifed molecularly-defined non-toxic "adjuvants" that enhanced immunity by affecting the rate of migration of naive lymphocytes through lymphatic tissues based on in vitro evidence of chemotaxis.1974 - 1980
