Summary

  • I am a clinical psychologist with 20+ years of experience treating adults with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety & depression, PTSD, chronic pain / illness, insomnia, women’s issues, & grief / loss. My client-centered approach to treatment goes beyond traditional talk therapy, incorporating the latest neuroscience and tracking the client's progress closely to provide the best possible care.

I offer clients a warm, supportive environment & encourage them to engage as essential partners in their healing process. I find that by understanding clients’ concerns in the context of their life experiences, identifying their goals for treatment, & mapping out the therapy process together, clients quickly become invested in treatment.

Understanding the origins of symptoms in the brain & autonomic nervous system shaped by experiences across the lifespan, I conceptualize clients’ problems using a mind-body approach shared with clients in easy-to-understand terms. “Mental health problems” are demystified & understood as brain and nervous system responses. Stigma is eliminated and clients are empowered to develop skills that over time lead to lasting change.

To maximize efficiency & effectiveness, I use a clinically valid questionnaire (OQ Analyst) to track therapeutic change with a sophisticated algorithm that provides immediate feedback about symptom improvement or exacerbation, alerts to potential risk for treatment failure, & offers information about the potential source of non-response when this occurs. Valuable time is not lost with guesswork & obstacles are immediately addressed so therapy stays on track and clients remain motivated.

Seeing clients overcome their challenges, accomplish their goals, and enjoy life to the fullest is the most gratifying part of my work.
