Summary
- Updated November 2024. I currently advise and support physicians who are being investigated and/or disciplined unfairly by their state medical boards, physician health programs or peer review committees. I recently published a book, The Disrupted Physician, about a colleague, Dr. Michael Langan, who had an almost decades' long struggle against his medical board's false accusations of alcoholism. The book is available on Amazon.

For 35 years, I was a board certified family physician in active clinical practice. I spent much of my career as an independent contractor working in many venues, including urgent care, emergency medicine, family medicine, public health, student health, correctional medicine and addiction medicine. I'm currently retired from clinical medicine and have written articles and op-ed pieces for multiple media including the Washington Post and the Roanoke Times, American Medical News, Emergency Medicine, Family Practice News and The Archives of Family Medicine. I spend one year teaching at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC and one year as Health Educator at Radford University in Radford, VA.
