Summary

  • Emotional and Mental dis-ease can often be the foundation of our ills and when addressed with an open heart and willingness to explore, change can happen, providing new insights and the potential for an empowering, healing experience. The natural world is one of our greatest tools towards wholeness.
My more than thirty years in Nursing and Medicine, the last 18 years serving in the Nurse Practitioner role, I have been devoted to studying, engaging and working with integrative approaches to wellness through apprenticeships in folk herbal therapies, participating in spiritual and ancestral work, obtaining teaching certification in yoga (YTT200, Sivananda, Madurai) and becoming an ordained Interfaith Minister in the state of NY. Integrative practices woven into my work throughout the years include Practicing Transpersonal Astrology, Herbal Therapeutics and Women’s Wellness through Dance/Belly Dancing (teaching privately and at conferences).
Most recently completed the 100-hr training with the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) in MDMA-assisted therapy in anticipation of MDMA's FDA approval and Ketamine Assisted Therapy training and supervision with Polaris Insight center. I am continuing to review the research as some long-term data comes out. My full-hearted thoughts on these therapies is that they should be reserved for the indicated and exceptional cases, that the therapeutic process is an incredible journey when taken wholeheartedly with the patient and does not require psychoactives to move a patient towards healing. After 35 years in the field, panacea treatments are rarely the quick-fixes they are purported to be for an ever-expanding diagnosis list. Arriving at these therapies when indicated is part of a well thought out and measured process.
