Summary
- Anis Toumeh, MD is a board-certified, fellowship-trained medical oncologist practicing at Midwest Oncology Associates – a part of Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Menorah Medical Center located in Overland Park, KS.
Dr. Toumeh specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of both hematological and solid malignancies, with a special focus on breast cancer. Throughout his career, Dr. Toumeh served as a principal investigator for several clinical trials. He believes that clinical trials are the reason cancer cure rates, as well as patient survival and quality of life have improved over the past decades. Dr. Toumeh pursued medical oncology as a profession because it is, to him, both emotionally and intellectually satisfying.
For the first part of his career, he practiced in Western Kansas. Living and practicing in a smaller community opened his eyes to some of the disparities that cancer patients experience. He Served as the medical director of the Breast Center at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, KS. After moving to Kansas City in July 2021, he practiced at St. Joseph Medical Center and served as the director of oncology services.
Dr. Toumeh earned his medical degree from the University of Tishreen School of Medicine in Lattakia, Syria. He completed his internal medicine residency at The University of Toledo Medical Center in Toledo, OH and then, completed a medical oncology fellowship at the Eleanor N. Dana Cancer Center at The University of Toledo Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.
